Common questions
Business Return FAQs
What do I need to provide for a business return?
Most businesses need complete year-end financial statements, the prior-year return, ownership details, bank reconciliations, asset information, and any federal or state notices. We may request additional records after the initial review.
Do you provide bookkeeping?
Routine tax-return preparation does not include full bookkeeping or account cleanup. If your books need work before filing, we’ll explain the scope and provide a separate quote.
How are additional owners, K‑1s, or states billed?
Additional partners, shareholders, K‑1s, and state returns are priced as add-ons based on the volume and complexity involved. You’ll receive a quote before work begins.
Can you help with multi-state apportionment?
Yes, depending on the states and business activity involved. Multi-state analysis and additional state filings are outside the base price and require a custom quote.
What information is needed for a C‑Corporation return?
In addition to complete financial records, we generally need shareholder and officer information, payroll totals, dividends or distributions, stock changes, and related-party loan details.
Do you prepare payroll or sales-tax filings?
Those services are separate from the business income-tax return. Visit our After-the-Fact Payroll page or contact us to discuss the filing periods and records involved.
What if I’m behind on multiple years?
We can review the missing years and records to determine the filing order and scope. Prior-year catch-up and cleanup are quoted separately.
